Tagdio

Tagdio is a label design and barcode printing platform where you design in the browser and print straight to your thermal printer. It works with Zebra, TSC, Godex, Argox and Honeywell printers over ZPL and TSPL. No install, no license dongle, no Windows requirement.

In developmentIn development. It will open on tagdio.com when it is ready, and we are not giving a date.

Every company that makes or ships a physical product needs labels. Product labels, shipping labels, textile care labels, food ingredient labels, shelf and asset tags. Today that work is mostly done in desktop software such as BarTender, NiceLabel or CODESOFT.

Those tools share a shape: a high per seat license, a USB dongle, Windows only, an interface from another decade, one user at a time and an install that IT has to roll out. In practice that pushes teams towards either a cracked copy or the limited free tool that came with the printer. Neither is sustainable.

Tagdio moves the work into the browser. No install, no operating system requirement, a team can work on the same label, there is an approval step, and variable data from an Excel or CSV file drives batch printing. Most importantly it stays brand independent, so your label is not locked to one printer manufacturer.

01

The problem it solves

The license is locked to one machine

The label program usually sits on the single computer in the warehouse. If that machine is busy or broken, printing stops. Adding a second user means buying another license.

Designer and printer cannot be separated

With desktop tools the file gets passed around. Which version was printed becomes unclear, and printing the wrong one is usually noticed after the labels are already on the boxes.

Every printer brand is its own world

Zebra speaks ZPL, TSC and Godex speak TSPL. Change the brand and the label has to be rebuilt, which turns printer choice into a technical constraint.

Variable data is typed by hand

Five hundred labels for five hundred SKUs cannot be prepared by typing. A tool that cannot bind spreadsheet data to a label is not useful at volume.

02

What sets it apart

Design in the browser

The label editor runs in the browser. No install, no license file, no operating system requirement. The designer in the office and the operator in the warehouse open the same label.

Brand independent output

One design becomes ZPL for Zebra and TSPL for TSC, Godex and Argox, with EPL for older Zebra devices and ESC/POS for receipt printers. Changing printers does not mean rebuilding the label.

Batch printing from a spreadsheet

Fields from an Excel or CSV file bind to a label template and thousands of labels come out of a single job. Printing shipping labels from an order list runs the same way.

Approval before print

A label can pass through approval before it goes live. In food and textile production that is not cosmetic: a wrong allergen or a wrong composition line is the kind of error that ends in a recall.

03

What is in it

The product is still being built. The list below shows the scope; order and detail may change with the roadmap.

Design

  • drag and drop label editor with millimetre based layout
  • text, image, line, frame and variable field objects
  • template library and reusable label sizes
  • export as PDF, PNG, SVG and ZPL

Barcodes

  • EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14, GS1-128
  • QR and DataMatrix
  • check digit validation, a broken code is caught before print
  • free barcode and QR tools that need no account

Printing

  • ZPL and TSPL generation, EPL and ESC/POS support
  • desktop print agent for USB and network printers
  • variable data from Excel and CSV, batch job queue
  • print history and reprints

Team

  • several people working on the same label
  • approval step before a label goes live
  • version tracking, the printed version stays on record
  • Turkish and English interface

How it works

  1. 01

    Design the label

Pick the label size and printer resolution, then build the design in the browser editor. Variable fields are defined separately from fixed text.

  2. 02

    Bind the data

Columns from an Excel or CSV file are mapped to the variable fields. When a barcode field is bound, its check digit is validated.

  3. 03

    Preview and approve

The label is generated in the printer's own language and previewed. With approval turned on, nothing reaches the print queue until the responsible person signs off.

  4. 04

    Send to the printer

A small desktop print agent bridges the browser and the USB or network thermal printer, so the label prints in the printer's native language.

05

Who it fits

Good fit

  • textile manufacturers and exporters: care, composition and customer barcode labels
  • food producers: ingredient and allergen labels with an approval step
  • e-commerce operations: batch shipping labels from an order list
  • warehouse and logistics teams: shelf, carton and asset tags
  • teams running several printer brands who do not want to depend on one machine

Not a fit

  • teams printing a handful of labels a month whose current tool is enough
  • anyone who only needs A4 output from an office printer
  • fully offline production lines with no internet connection
  • work that has to go live today, since the product is still in development
06

Technical ground

The editor works on a canvas in the browser, and barcodes are generated and validated with a standard barcode library. On the printing side the label is translated into the printer's own language and a desktop print agent delivers it to the USB or network device. The product is built in Turkish and English, with the Turkish and European markets in mind.

Where the product stands

Tagdio is still being built. If labelling is a problem for you today, write anyway: we can look at your current setup and let you know when it goes live. We are not giving a date, because we do not want to make a promise we cannot keep.

Frequently asked

Is Tagdio live?

No, it is in development. This page explains what the product is and what it aims at. Once it launches, this page will link to tagdio.com.

Can it replace BarTender?

That is the goal: the same job in the browser, without an install or a dongle, with a team working together. Since the product is still in development, we would not tell you to change your current setup today.

Which printers does it work with?

Zebra devices speaking ZPL and TSC, Godex and Argox devices speaking TSPL are the primary target. EPL for older Zebra models and ESC/POS for receipt printers are also in scope.

Can it batch print from a spreadsheet?

Yes, that is one of the core jobs. Columns from an Excel or CSV file bind to the variable fields on the label and the batch prints in a single job.

How does the browser reach the printer?

A browser cannot talk to a USB printer directly, so a small desktop print agent bridges the gap. The label is generated in the printer's own language and the agent passes it to the device.

How do we know the barcode is correct?

Barcode fields are validated for format and check digit. A broken EAN is caught before it enters the print queue, because the cost of a wrong barcode is a stack of printed labels.

If labelling is where you are stuck

How many label types you run, which printers you use and what you print with today. We can help with that even before the product is ready.
